Crispy Besan Potato Roti Pizza (Jugaad Magic)
Ever had those days when there’s perfectly good roti and
aloo sabji… but kids just refuse to eat it?
Here’s a smart, tasty twist that turns simple sabji into something exciting,
crispy, and totally kid-approved — a desi-style roti pizza!
Ingredients
- 1
bowl potato sabji (dry aloo bhaji)
- 2
rotis
- ½
cup besan (gram flour)
- 1
tsp turmeric powder
- 2
tsp carrom seed powder (ajwain powder)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 1
tsp red chilli powder (optional)
- Salt
as per taste
- 2
tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander
- Water
(as required to make batter)
- 1–2
tsp oil (for roasting)
- Green
mint chutney (optional)
Step-by-Step Method
Step 1: Prepare Batter & Roti Base
- In a
bowl, add besan, turmeric powder, carrom seed powder, red chilli powder
(optional), sesame seeds, salt, and chopped coriander.
- Gradually
add water and mix to make a smooth, slightly thick pouring batter (slurry
consistency).
- Take
a roti and spread a thin layer of green chutney (if using).
- Evenly
spread the potato sabji over the roti.
Step 2: Cook & Add Besan Layer
- Heat
a tawa and lightly grease it with oil.
- Place
the prepared roti on the tawa with the sabji side facing up.
- Now
pour and gently spread the besan batter evenly over the sabji layer.
- Drizzle
a little oil on top, cover with a lid, and cook on low flame for 2 minutes.
Step 3: Flip & Roast
- Carefully
flip the roti.
- Cook
the other side for another 2 minutes until golden and crispy.
Step 4: Repeat & Serve
- Repeat
the same process for the second roti.
- Once
done, remove from tawa and cut into pizza-style slices.
- Serve
hot with chutney or enjoy as it is!
Tips &
Variations
- Add
grated cheese for a cheesy version kids will love.
- Mix
finely chopped onions, capsicum, or even grated carrot into the batter.
- You
can use other leftover sabjis like paneer bhurji or mixed vegetables.
- Always
cook on low flame so the besan layer cooks properly without burning.
