Mug Dal Khichadi

Ingredients:

1. 1 cup of rice
2. 2 cup mug dal with skin ( Green mung dal with chilka)
3. Salt as per taste
4. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
5. 4 1/2 cup water

For Tadaka:
1. 1 1/2 tablespoon oil/ Ghee 
2. 2 teaspoon  mustard  (Mohari/rai)
3. 2 teaspoon cumin seeds (Jeera)
4. 2 teaspoon asafoetida powder
5. 1 green chili,if you want spicy add as per your taste

Procedure:
1. Put the rice , mug dal, turmeric, salt, and water in a cooker.  Place cooker on medium flame on the gas stove and give cooker 5 Whistles (shitis).Turf off the gas after 5 min.
2. Cooked rice and Moong dal are now very soft and semi-liquid in texture. Mix it with a spoon.
3. For Tadka / wagar - Put a pan on gas on slow flame. Add ghee/ oil then add mustard / mohari/ rai when mustard seed starts to crackle add cumin seeds, asafoetida powder, and chopped green chilli, if you want more spicy then can add one teaspoon red chilli powder in tadaka.
4. Now pour the tadaka/ wagar on the cooked rice and mug dal mixture and close it with a lid for a few seconds.

Serve hot with homemade curd/Dahi or buttermilk.

This is very yummy for taste buds and good for the tummy too.
